All square, at one-all at half-time, Barton Town Old Boys went on a second-half goal spree against Leicester side, Kirby Muxloe to book their place in the next round of the F.A. Cup.

Barton were forced to make one change from the starting line-up of the Bottesford game. Without the influential Hayden Barnett, Town Manager, Carl Stead moved centre half, Ricky Foster into Barnett's central midfield role, skipper Craig Suddaby returning after injury to partner Karl Hull at the back.

The sides had already exchanged misses when Town went in front in the 11th minute. Taking the free-kick himself after being fouled, Ryan Morton's ball into the area was back-headed home by Lee MOHAMMED.

The game then went through a scrappy period, both sides finding it difficult coping with a very blustery wind, although Mohammed might have done better when a Gareth Barlow flick-on allowed him to show a clean pair of heels to the trailing Kirby Muxloe defence. Mohammed worked his way into the visitor's area but chose to shoot rather than lay the ball off to the supporting Morton.

Town were left to rue that missed opportunity in the 42nd minute when Kirby Muxloe equalised, Matt Melbourne finishing well at the far post, to send the teams in level at the break.

Barton began the second half on the offensive, both Barlow and substitute, Lee Moulds causing problems for the visitors, especially in the 58th minute when, following a good turn and run at the retreating defence, Barlow saw his well-struck shot blocked and cleared before any Town player could follow-up. Two minutes later, it was Barlow again as a mis-hit Atkinson effort landed at his feet and, as the flag stayed down, Kirby Muxloe keeper, Elliott Shilliam did very well to take the sting from the shot, the ball bobbling agonisingly wide of the post.

Two minute later and it was a case of third time lucky as a cross from the left was dummied by substitute, Shawn Mitchell, giving BARLOW time to finish from the right edge of six yard box. And a minute later, Barlow turned provider, his deep left-wing cross picking out the head of Lee MOULDS at the far post for a simple finish.

And it was a case of "game over "in the 75th minute as a flick-on released MORTON down the middle to finish with aplomb. That was by no means the end of the scoring, however. Two minutes later, Kirby Muxloe pulled one back, James Miller finishing well, firing across Town keeper, Tom Nicholson, into the bottom corner.

But any thoughts the visitors may have had for an unlikely comeback were soon dispelled by a spell of three goals in three minutes as the clock ran down. First, the powerful Lee MOULDS got his second of the game, breaking down the left to fire beyond Shilliam into the top corner, Gary ATKINSON then adding a sixth for good measure before Miller got his second, heading home at the far post to add some respectability to the unlikely score-line.

The win sets up Barton for a trip to Bardon Hill Sports in the next round, but before then they need to transfer their cup form to the league for Wednesday night's trip to local rivals, Appleby Frodingham before returning to cup action next Saturday with an F.A.Vase tie at Ollerton Town.
